adidas Originals ZX 8000 Meissen Porcelain
On December 1st in 2020 adidas Originals, Meissen Porcelain and Till Jagla presented the adidas Originals ZX 8000 Porcelain one-off as part of the large-scale adidas A-ZX series, which mainly consists out of porcelain. The unique design and collaboration was inspired by the Meissen Krater Vase from 1856, designed by Ernst August Leuteritz. Special features of the shoe are the 15 out of 130 different patterns, which can be found on this piece of art through elaborate hand-painting done by artists of the Meissen Manufactory. The challenge was, unlike working with porcelain, to master the extremely fast drying time on leather. Till Jagla pointed out the special creation process as well as the high standards needed in order to be able to create such a masterpiece. The team around this project invested more than twelve months in completing the ZX 8000. One further important component of this project was the auctioning of the Meissen Porcelain in collaboration with Sotheyb's. The pair was up for auction until December 14, 2020 at an online event as part of the New York Festival of Wonder Exhibition in the multi category Luxury Sale Series. The auction price was 126.000 USD. All proceeds were donated to the Brooklyn Museum.
